So I admit, I’m a little biased when it comes to Coppertail. This local brewing company is my favorite in the area, and Tampa Bay has many local breweries in the region. Coppertail stands out, not only for their fabulous brews, but also their upscale food menu. Much of their menu is made in-house and is exceptional. Their wings included. Coppertail serves the entire three-piece wing as one unit, four wings per serving. Their wings are smoked to finish, then quickly fried for a crispy exterior. With a decent selection of sauces on the side, they arrive at the table piping hot from the fryer and dry-rubbed in salty-tangy spices. Its the wings version of bar nuts…which means a perfect accompaniment to more beer.
Crispy outside/skin, super-tender and juicy inside with a nice mild smoked flavor that doesn’t overpower the meat. A decently sized snack that pairs well with whatever they have on tap.
There are a couple of things that I’d prefer differently – split the wings as drums & flats, also offer just drums or flats as an option. Sauce ’em up! no sauce on the side. Regardless, my preferences are certainly not a show stopper, and I love Coppertail anyway. They’ll always be a regular stop for me.
